When Vinoth was in Singapore, he wanted to file an RTI application. But there were no online services to file the application. Sensing the difficulty in RTI filing process, Pradeep Bhatt and Vinoth Ranganathan, who were working for Singapore-based company Ninetology, started OnlineRTI portal to assist NRI applicants to file RTI applications. However, considering the significant demand the full-fledged website was launched to capture the growing Indian market.
Pradeep Bhatt has M.Tech degree from IIT Mumbai with over 11 years of software experience and Vinoth Ranganathan has B.Tech from NIT Durgapur with over 9 years of Software experience.
The RTI (Right to Information) Act helps citizens to seek information from public authorities. However, people often tend to avoid it because of the tedious procedures involved. One has to find the correct RTI template, draft the application properly, find the correct PIO (Public Information Officer), pay the fees using Indian Postal Order, and then finally send the application through registered post.
OnlineRTI has taken the pain out of the filing process by understanding the whole act, automating a lot on software side, designing each state’s preferred template, and tying up with post offices for business accounts. The portal has crawled a lot of government websites to build a search engine internally to find the correct PIO address.
Online users can leverage this portal by just submitting their personal details like name, contact number, address, and queries. A team of experts at OnlineRTI will take care of the whole process for its users. Personal Tracking Number will be provided to track the application until its disposal.

The portal expects to receive 5 lakh applications by next year and 10 lakh applications by 2016. It has also raised Rs 50 lakh funding recently through Letsventure Platform.
