Grofers expands to Bengaluru and raises capital to fuel further growthGrofers, a hyper local delivery service that started in Delhi NCR has expanded its presence to Bengaluru after having set-up in Delhi NCR and Mumbai.

Grofers recently raised its first round of funding from Sequoia Capital has 140 of its employees spread across the cities, shuttling over 1,500 deliveries from local stores to consumers. The company has also launched Grofers On-Demand, an Android application that allows users and businesses to get their delivery done by just selecting a pickup and a drop location.

Grofers connects local merchants with consumers in their area. Grofers was founded in January 2014 by Saurab Kumar and Albinder Dhindsa. It now employs 180 people across Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Mumbai.

“Grofers has been growing at a great pace across Delhi and Mumbai. We now partner with over 150 local merchants and continue to bring more merchants onboard. We will continue with our strategy of tying up with local merchants and making the process of delivery smoother for the end consumer,” said Albinder Dhindsa, Co-founder and CEO of Grofers.
